Lovely rooms,grounds,staff and food. Loved our time at this resort. Thank you. Beautiful destination for a wedding. Pool, lounge chairs were very nice. The views from anywhere in the grounds are stunning. Every interaction we were greeted with a smile and great service.

Amazing Staycation

I had the pleasure of celebrating my Birthday and Anniversary at Fairmont Orchid. Everything was amazing! The location, grounds, the weather, food & especially the staff. Everyone Staff member made our stay so special. However, Tremaine at Browns Beach House and Elaine at the pool were outstanding!

Disappointed

Do not splurge for an "ocean view" or "partial ocean view". We reserved an "ocean view" (not "partial ocean view") and were placed in the building furthest from the ocean to start (no view) and then moved to the second building back, on the second floor. You could only see the ocean if you craned your neck out off the balcony (see photos) - not if you were sitting on the balcony AND the view was the same as that for a "partial ocean view" as shown on the resort website. Very disappointing and certainly shouldn't be marketed as "Ocean View". The servers at Brown's were lovely but the food was extremely overpriced and was missing key components of dishes (for example, macadamia nuts on the salad) - you are definitely paying a large surcharge for the view. Finally while the breakfast buffet was adequate, it was not worth the charge, for sure. On the other hand, everyone working at the hotel was very friendly and welcoming.

A fabulous resort on a very special island

We stayed 3 nights at the Fairmont Orchid to close out our ten year anniversary trip to Hawaii. It was a perfect way to end our Hawaiian holiday, and I can’t recommend the resort enough. The pool is gorgeous and spacious, and with plenty of chairs around. It - and the hot tub - are open 24 hours, which is a great bonus to have a quiet midnight, or very early morning swim. The secluded beach is wonderful, protected, and offers views of Haleakala on Maui, as well as turtle sightings whilst snorkelling! Food at the resort is quite good, with a dinner at the poolside restaurant being a highlight. And while the breakfast buffet was very nice, we felt that $50/person is very high - even for Hawaii Island. Our room was very large and had plenty of storage. The bathroom - with separate shower and tub - as well as WC - was gorgeous. The balcony overlooking the golf course was nice, and very peaceful. Housekeeping was great - though there were a few places on property that went untouched for a couple of days (pool towels by a rubbish bin for a couple days, as an example) - but nothing outrageously overlooked. We had an amazing stay at the Fairmont Orchid, and hope to return one day!

Underwhelmed and overpriced

Leaving after a 5 night stay. The hotel in my opinion is not a 5 star. The hotel is old and the rooms are very average, no updates, no smart TVs and bad charging areas. The pool is nice, but there are very few umbrellas, and they close them on a dime if there’s wind. Leaving you with no shade! No trees, nothing. They have a cabana that’s just two beds and a roof that they want 475.00 for a day. The towers are equal. North a bit longer walk, which is my tower. The gold floor where the lounge is nice, but limited choices. There is no room service until 5:00 PM The beach is a tiny cove, good I guess for snorkeling but nothing great to write home about. No shade no trees, and lots of black lava rocks to navigate. Didn’t find the pool personnel that accommodating. They leave you hanging forever to sign out a tab and seen to come and go in sporadic bursts. Definitely not up to Fairmont standards that I’ve experienced. They could use a lesson from the staff at the Fairmont in Banff or Barbados!
